A statue of Kiyoshi Atsumi, star of the 48-part series "Otoko Wa Tsurai Yo." This ran from 1969 to 1995, when the actor passed away. The father of a Japanese friend recently told me "if you don't know Tora-san, you can't understand Japan." I've taken his advice to heart and have been renting the films from Tsutaya. At one movie a week, I should be done before next New Year's.
